The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) is hiring a Systems Administrator to support the DRI technical team based at Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
This is a three-year fixed-term contract.
The appointment will be made on the Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€40,053 - €50,692 per annum), in line with current Government pay policy.
DRI is a CoreTrustSeal-certified Trustworthy Digital Repository for Ireland's cultural and social data.
It comprises a consortium with staff in three Irish partner institutions: Trinity College Dublin, the Royal Irish Academy, and Maynooth University.
The role will be based at Trinity College Dublin.
The purpose of this role is to support the DRI technical team in delivering repository services and to administer the repository infrastructure by managing day-to-day system administration tasks such as monitoring, system upgrades, backups, website administration, and security audits.
The role holder will work as part of a small team of Linux-oriented software engineers within the DRI group of Trinity College IT Services.
They will also collaborate with team members from the Royal Irish Academy and Maynooth University to enhance the repository's functionality to better support DRI's objectives.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain automated deployment scripts
Perform operating system and website security updates
Maintain backup infrastructure, including testing backups
Investigate and resolve technical issues with the repository infrastructure
Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
Contribute to bug fixing, documentation, software maintenance, and other development activities as directed by the DRI technical team
Participate in DRI staff and project meetings, cross-functional task forces, and other activities as required
Occasional travel to meetings and conferences in Ireland and Europe, or online participation
Assist in project management activities such as planning, reporting, and metrics
General
Deputise for colleagues as needed and attend department meetings and events
Perform any other duties as assigned by the manager or nominee
