The Assistant Civil Estimator supports the Bid team in preparing cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including analysing plans and specifications, preparing cost estimates for labour, materials, and equipment, and evaluating subcontractors and suppliers. May also be involved in preparing cost reports, reviewing bids, and assisting with client communication.
You will be highly motivated, willing to work on your own initiative and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Analyse project plans and specifications to gain a clear understanding of project requirements from drawings and technical documentation.
* Prepare detailed cost estimations, including calculations for labour, materials, and equipment across various project components.
* Research and evaluate potential subcontractors and suppliers, providing recommendations based on suitability, value, and reliability.
* Assist in the preparation of cost reports and summaries and support the review of bids and tender submissions.
* Maintain positive and professional working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution and collaboration.
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications
* A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred, but not essential.
* Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
* Skilled in analysing project costs, identifying potential risks, and assessing market conditions to support accurate estimations.
* Capable of communicating clearly and professionally with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Competent with MS Office applications. Estimation or PM software is an advantage.
