· Adhere to national, regional and local Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation
· Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice

· Be aware of ethical policies and procedures which pertain to their area of practice
· Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the resident
· Assessment of residents' needs, creating and implementing Care plans
· Leading a team to ensure the highest possible standards of care
· Maintaining accurate documentation and residents' records
· Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift in accordance with the Home's policies and current legislation
· Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines – identify investigate and resolve risks proactively.
· Support, guide, teach and mentor others in line with NMBI code of practice, always following its guidelines
· Report and consult with Clinical Nurse Manager or designated officer, on clinical issues as appropriate
· Participate in innovation and change in the approach to resident care delivery particularly in relation to new research findings, evidence based practice and advances in treatment
· Participate in clinical audit and review
· Promote a positive health concept with residents and colleagues and contribute to health promotion and disease prevention initiatives of the Health Service Executive
· Liaising with the PIC when planning
· Communicate residents needs and care plan to Carers and at the hand-over meeting
· Arranging / participating in staff and resident meetings as required.
· Communicate with residents and in particular those with communication difficulties.
· Communicate with relatives/ significant others as required
· Communicate with other health professionals in a clear, clinical and precise manner.
· Ensuring statutory Health and Safety standards are adhered to at all times
· Making certain that chemicals / equipment are used and stored correctly and safety procedures adhered to at all times.
· Reporting immediately to the PIC, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a colleague, self or another.
· Understanding and ensuring the implementation of our Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
· Understand the extensive duties of the Fire Warden and apply these while on duty
· Reporting to the PIC, or the maintenance person, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
· Promoting safe working practice in our Home.
Organise carers work assignments
Supervise carers work and ensure the high quality of care is delivered
Interviewing for new staff, when required to do so, as and when required, in line with our Homes Recruitment policy.
· Supervising and instructing caring staff in the use of all equipment and hygiene procedures and giving help and guidance where appropriate.
· Conducting basic infection control training for all care staff
· Maintaining and improving professional knowledge and competence.
· Attending mandatory training days / courses, on or off site, as and when required.
