Southside Travellers Action Group is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Caretaker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of our premises, as well as carrying out minor repair and maintenance tasks.
* Maintain punctual attendance, working 19.5 hours per week
* Act as a key holder for the premises, setting up and disarming the alarm when opening and closing
* Ensure all individuals sign in and out in the attendance book
* Check that all doors and windows are secured when locking up the building
* Ensure the heating is switched on before use and switched off before closing up
* Tidy the outside and back areas of the centre
* Remove marks from walls and floors
* Keep the premises clean and tidy
* Identify and fix any items that require repair, using the appropriate tools and materials safely
* Report any issues to management to ensure necessary materials are supplied
* Ensure all areas are tidy with no obstructions
* Report any building, electrical, or plumbing issues to management
* Identify and report any matters that require attention
* Participate in planning meetings, team meetings, and continuing education sessions
* Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or line manager
* Attend trainings as identified by the supervisor
Required Skills and Qualifications
1. Proven experience in a similar caretaker or maintenance role
2. Excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
3. Practical skills and ability to troubleshoot and carry out minor repairs
4. Familiarity with the use of basic tools and equipment
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
6. Strong time management skills
7. Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure working environment
8. Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the organisation
