Maintenance Operative Job
Support the upkeep of university buildings and facilities as a Maintenance Operative.
* Conduct daily inspections to identify hazards, damage, or maintenance requirements.
* Perform minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fixing door handles and locks, and basic plumbing tasks.
We are seeking an experienced candidate with previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role. A basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair tools is required. The ideal candidate will be proactive, responsible, and able to work shifts and respond to issues independently.
We provide full training on university policies, buildings, and health & safety procedures. Uniforms, equipment, and relevant PPE will also be supplied.
Responsibilities:
1. Daily Building & Grounds Duties: Conduct daily inspections, monitor general condition, and report irregularities.
2. Maintenance & Repair: Perform minor repairs and assist with routine upkeep.
3. Security & Access Control: Unlock and lock buildings, manage access control, and support security procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Previous experience in a caretaker, general operative, or maintenance role.
* Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair tools.
* Ability to work shifts and respond to issues proactively.
* Good communication and problem-solving skills.
