We are looking for a passionate technical expert with experience in the retail industry to join our growing Industry Solutions Team. The team delivers industry-specific content and direct account engagement with clients to help business leaders see the value of MongoDB for their industry.
This role focuses on the Europe and Middle East (EMEA) market with a flexible location within European time zones, ideally based in Ireland. It includes travel of about 30% across the EMEA region and, to some extent, globally. The role can be based remotely in the Ireland region.
Responsibilities
* Translate Retail industry challenges and trends into how a digital transformation or investment into technical use cases can create business benefits for senior management, executives, enterprise architects, and product owners in retail.
* Collaborate with industry peers to create a technical go-to-market strategy addressing major challenges and opportunities for customers, including the creation of internal and external content (sales enablement materials, slide decks, whitepapers, blogs, solutions, demos, etc.).
* Work with the sales team to support accounts from startups to large enterprises and advise IT decision-makers and executives.
* Advise clients on designing systems, applications, and infrastructure to leverage MongoDB for large-scale projects in their industry.
* Represent MongoDB at internal, customer, and retail industry events and in international organizations, workgroups, and standardization bodies.
* Communicate field requirements and industry changes to leadership; align with product management and engineering.
* Mentor junior colleagues and demonstrate resilience in business challenges.
Qualifications
* Deep expertise in technical architecture, solution design, and delivering complex technical solutions at scale.
* 5+ years of experience in the retail industry or related fields (research, adjacent functions, or retail software).
* Experience solving industry-specific data challenges or architecture considerations (e.g., modern composable/unified commerce, personalization, inventory management, POS, semantic search, conversational agents).
* Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to visualize and communicate complex information to all organizational levels.
* Spoken and written fluency in English.
* Ideally: Advanced degree (Masters, Ph.D. or equivalent).
* Knowledge of retail industry challenges, innovation, and trends.
* Experience in customer-facing engagements (sales, pre-sales, or thought leadership).
* Experience delivering content against a technical go-to-market strategy (decks, blogs, whitepapers, one-pagers, demos).
* Proficiency with various architectures and distributed systems; knowledge of retail data architectures (MACH, data mesh, headless, composable).
* Ability to discuss data technologies (RDBMS, document stores, key-value, unstructured, NoSQL) and tooling (ETL/CDC).
* Ability to discuss AI and generative AI from use-case and architectural perspectives.
* Full-stack software development experience including database programming and data modeling.
* Fluency in another European language (preferred: French, German).
* MongoDB Certification.
