A Day in the Life
* As a Sr. Principal engineer you will be an active technical leader in key new product development, including design, technology development & advancement, automation, vendor management, and project management.
* Provide leadership in manufacturing technology innovation strategy across the department.
* Progress projects from concept to commercialization and lead on product, process, engineering, and leadership fronts.
* Assess risk and resolve technical challenges with existing processes and technologies.
* Use DRM methodologies (or similar), 3-D drawing/printing, and augmented reality to develop best-in-class technologies for manufacturing new medical device product ranges.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, execute, and deliver New Product Development requirements.
* Lead teams driving technology process innovation with emphasis on improving quality, reducing variation, and developing automated and semi-automated systems.
* Lead and support process development, characterization, and validation activities to support new product introduction.
* Participate in cross-site Technical Forums and build a network within the technical community.
* Define and implement strategic goals in the technical community in line with the business unit strategy.
Key Skills & Experience
* Third Level 8 Degree or higher in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related discipline, with 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
* This role is primarily technical; a passion for engineering concepts and principles is essential.
* Proven SME in equipment development, process development, process characterization, with a strong track record in innovation and project/program management.
* Excellent project management skills and experience coordinating multiple complex process characterizations & equipment across a PD team.
* Experience with DRM practices & metrics (e.g., PCX, WFX) and participation in or leadership of DFMA workshops.
* Extensive engineering knowledge across concept development, technology evaluation, driving innovative solutions to complex problems, process design and development, materials, design for six sigma, CAD (SolidWorks preferred), statistics, process validation and control.
* Good communication in English, with high enthusiasm and motivation.
* Strong organizational, presentation, and project management abilities.
* Proven influencer with experience driving large-scale technical initiatives.
