Relief Imaging Assistant - UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic, DublinLocation: Sports Surgery ClinicJob type: Casual/BankOverview of role:The purpose of this role is to assist Radiologists and Radiographers during Magnetic Resonance (MRI), Ultrasound (US), Computed Tomography (CT), Fluoroscopic and General Radiographic examination of patients.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:The main duties required of this role are as follows: To carry out general patient care duties within Radiology Departments.To ensure a clean and hygienic working environmentTo assist in maintaining agreed stock levels of consumable itemsTo carry out required administrative tasksMaintaining effective communication with patients and staff.Patient Care The imaging assistant should treat all patients with dignity and respect at all times. Patient confidentiality is essential.Ensure patients are appropriately prepared for their examination. This may include assisting with undressing.Prepare the Examination/Scan room for the next patient.Give emotional support to anxious patients.Escorting, transport and manual handling of patients from dressing to exam room and wards.Carry out general patient care within the Radiology Departments ensuring the highest standards of patient care are maintained at all times providing comfort and safety to all patients.Infection Control The imaging assistant has a responsibility towards the general cleanliness and tidiness of the department with specific responsibility of their own working area. This includes examination rooms, changing cubicles and waiting areas.The MRI imaging assistant has a responsibility for keeping the MRI Scan Room clean and tidy especially the MRI coils, shelving and pad storage area.To familiarise themselves with and adhere to the SSC Infection Control policy.Maintaining stock of Consumable items Ensure all consumable items are well stocked in your working area. These include earplugs, couch roll, CDs for MRI.To ensure each examination room is stocked with medical/surgical and other items when assigned to that specific area e.g. USTo ensure sufficient supplies of linen are available.Inform a Radiographer immediately if stock is low in a specific item.Administrative Duties Demonstrate competency in the use of all applicable aspects of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and limited use of the Hospital Information System (HIS).To scan documents with care into the correct patient folders.To copy and digitise CDs using specialised software when trained in this areaTo answer telephone enquiries to department and respond to them as appropriate.Communication Communication of patients of all ages.
