Job Purpose: The Afterschool Practitioner will work as a member of the Afterschool Team, showing initiative and creativity to foster an environment, which encourages the holistic development of each child. The Practitioner will support the day-to-day operations of the Service and the provision of a quality service to children and parents. The main priority of this position is to be actively involved in planning and facilitating the Afterschool Programme.Key Responsiblities: To assist in the day-to-day running of the Service, providing a stimulating and varied programme of play, while ensuring the well-being of all children in accordance with the principles of Siolta, Aistear and the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016. Supervise homework activities Show enthusiasm and contribute personal skills and experiences to ensure a high-quality pedagogical programme To work in harmony as part of a team, showing proactivity, co-operation and flexibility Attend staff meetings and undergo training as required Endorse the ethos, policies and procedures of ******* Afterschool in pedagogical activities as well as in all interactions with the children, team members, parents, the school and the community To be familiar with and conduct all emergency and security procedures in line with the Child Care (Pre-school Services) (No. 2) Regulations 2006, the Fire Safety Act 1997 To attend and assist with the organisation of parent meetings, fund-raising and promotional events Maintain the room and equipment to ensure the health and safety of children at all times Ensure a good standard of hygiene Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager in case of any concerns about a child To keep confidential all personal information regarding the children and their families, the staff and the Service.
