Our client provides a wide range of cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for public, industrial, commercial, agricultural customers working across both Ireland and Northern Ireland. They are now looking for a Quality Assurance / Quality Control Engineer. This is a hands on role in on site commercial aspect of systems nationwide and travel within Ireland is a requirement of the role.
Solar QA/QC Engineer
As a Solar QA/QC Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction and installation works on solar PV projects comply with quality standards, technical specifications, and applicable regulations. You will play a key role in establishing and enforcing QA/QC procedures, performing inspections, and supporting the commissioning process to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans in accordance with contract requirements and ISO standards.
* Conduct on-site quality inspections of civil, mechanical, and electrical works including module mounting, cabling, trenching, inverter installation, and grid connection aspects.
* Ensure compliance with design drawings, technical specifications, method statements, and ITPs.
* Perform inspections and testing on materials and installations (e.g., PV modules, inverters, transformers, cable insulation resistance, string testing, torque settings).
* Maintain up-to-date documentation including test reports, NCRs, punch lists, as-built drawings, and quality logs.
* Identify and manage non-conformities and coordinate with relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
* Liaise with contractors, site managers, and client representatives to ensure all works meet quality standards.
* Support the commissioning and handover process with complete QA/QC documentation packages.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned and proposing quality enhancements.
Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
* Minimum 3 years' QA/QC experience in solar PV or renewable energy projects; EPC experience preferred.
* Strong knowledge of Irish and EU construction standards, regulations, and best practices for solar projects.
* Familiar with IEC, EN, and ISO standards (especially ISO 9001).
* Proficient in MS Office and quality management systems (QMS); experience with SharePoint is an advantage.
* Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment.
* Valid Irish (EU) driver's license and flexibility to travel to project sites.
Preferred
* Experience with BESS or hybrid renewable energy projects.
* Certification in Quality Management or similar (e.g., IRCA, CQI).
* Experience with SCADA and monitoring systems.
