About the Role
This Senior Mechanical Engineer position will provide technical expertise to our Preconstruction Department at our Dublin office.
* Familiarization with project designs, specifications, and drawings to fully understand project scope.
* Assistance in generating and finalizing estimates, tender documents, and resource allocation for tender projects.
* Review of MEP design and value engineering exercises to optimize mechanical design solutions.
* Support for engineering requirements through managing and liaising with key project stakeholders (Client, Suppliers, Sub-contractors, Vendors).
* Review of equipment specifications and generation of procurement packages.
* Preparation of subcontract packages.
* Assessment of subcontract and supplier tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
* Review of construction methodology to identify program implications and building logistics.
* Interrogation of tender documentation (drawings, specifications, tender addenda, and all other documentation) for commercial risks and scope gaps relating to deliverables.
* Identification of project risks and mitigation plans to address these risks.
* Mentorship and support for less experienced engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
* Evaluation and promotion of new engineering practices and processes to enhance project delivery times.
* Attendance at industry events and training sessions to maintain a current understanding of market trends and best practices.
Requirements
10+ years' experience in designing Building Services systems and project execution (EPC).
Honours degree (NFQ Level 8 for Ireland) in Mechanical engineering.
Proven ability to lead projects, manage technical and financial aspects, and deliver high-quality mechanical systems.
Design and implementation of mechanical systems such as Critical cooling, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
Strong understanding of electrical systems supporting the mechanical plant.
Strong understanding of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and value engineering principles.
Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
Competence in design software such as Navisworks, Fluid Flow, Pipe-Flo, Fathom, or similar platforms.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders and external consultants.
