We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Housekeeping & Laundry Attendant to join our hospitality team at The Forum – Mountmellick Tourist Accommodation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in guest rooms, common areas, and facilities, as well as carrying out laundry and linen management duties. This role requires strong attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for our guests.
Please note: Our busiest period is from May to September. During these months, working hours may vary (typically between 9:00am and 2:00pm). Applicants must be available and flexible to work throughout this time.
Key Responsibilities
Room Cleaning & Servicing
* Clean guest bedrooms and bathrooms to a high standard.
* Make beds, change linen, and replace towels.
* Dust and polish furniture, light fixtures, and surfaces.
* Vacuum and mop floors, spot-clean as needed.
* Empty rubbish bins and replace liners.
* Replenish in-room amenities (toiletries, tea/coffee, toilet paper, etc.).
* Report any maintenance issues or damages promptly.
Common Area Cleaning
* Clean and sanitize shared bathrooms and toilets.
* Tidy and clean reception, hallways, staircases, and communal spaces.
* Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in common areas.
* Dust, polish, and remove cobwebs.
* Clean windows, mirrors, and glass doors as required.
* Keep outdoor areas (entrance, patio, etc.) clean and welcoming.
Laundry & Linen Duties
* Collect used linen and towels from rooms and communal areas.
* Prepare bed linen for collection by the external laundry service.
* Wash, dry, and fold some laundry items in-house.
* Sort, store, and organize clean laundry neatly.
* Monitor linen stock levels and report shortages.
* Ensure safe use and care of laundry equipment.
* Assist with delivery, sorting, and organization of clean linen from the external service.
Guest Service & Support
* Be courteous and helpful to guests when encountered.
* Respond promptly to housekeeping or laundry-related requests.
* Maintain guest privacy and confidentiality at all times.
* Report lost property to management immediately.
Health, Safety & Hygiene
* Follow all health and safety regulations, including safe chemical use.
* Wear PPE and use proper manual handling techniques.
* Store cleaning supplies safely and securely.
* Participate in fire safety and hygiene training as required.
Stock Management & Reporting
* Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, notifying the manager as needed.
* Keep housekeeping storage areas clean, tidy, and locked.
* Record issues, damages, or unusual findings in housekeeping logs.
Requirements
* Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or hospitality preferred.
* Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
* Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
* Physically fit and able to lift/move items (e.g., linen bags, mattresses).
* Trustworthy, professional, and dependable.
* Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts when required.
* Familiarity with cleaning equipment and chemicals (training provided).
Desirable:
* Knowledge of laundry systems or professional laundering processes.
* Local to Mountmellick or with reliable transport.
* First Aid or Health & Safety Certification (or willingness to train).
* An interest in the history of The Forum and Mountmellick to be shared with guests to enhance their stay.
