OverviewA leading investment and asset management firm headquartered in Dublin is embarking on a significant programme of modernisation. The firm is seeking an accomplished Head of Software Engineering to take full ownership of its engineering function, lead a team of 12 experienced developers, and shape the organisation’s technology strategy. There is a clearly defined pathway to the position of Chief Technology Officer.ResponsibilitiesDefine and deliver the firm’s software engineering strategy, roadmap, and operating model.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, embedding accountability and innovation.Drive the adoption of modern engineering practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.Provide technical and architectural leadership to ensure robust, scalable, and compliant systems.Collaborate with executive stakeholders to ensure technology investment supports business priorities.Contribute to board-level discussions, positioning as a natural successor to the CTO.QualificationsProven track record leading small to medium-sized engineering teams (10–15 engineers), ideally within financial services, asset management, or other highly regulated sectors.Strong technical expertise with the ability to engage credibly with senior engineers and architects.Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering enterprise-grade, cloud-native platforms.Experience in shaping and governing engineering strategy, budgets, and delivery models.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the presence to operate at executive level.Ambitious, collaborative leader with the capability and aspiration to progress to CTO.20% annual performance bonusFull private healthcare (Laya)Direct succession pathway to CTORole detailsLocation: Dublin City Centre | 3–4 days onsiteEmployment type: Full-timeSeniority level: Mid-Senior levelJob function: Information TechnologyIndustry context: Financial services
