The Smart Grid Solution team is looking for an experienced electronics engineer to help develop new technologies for the changing power grid and low voltage power distribution. This team is responsible for low voltage power distribution applications such as smart metering, circuit breakers, fault detection and behind the meter/embedded metrology. Numerous global challenges such as climate change, vehicle electrification and distributed renewable generation are putting immense pressure on existing power infrastructure and on the energy distribution systems in houses, data centers and factories.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Electronic Systems Engineer who can work across hardware and software. As a member of the applications team you will play a key role in developing and commercializing new technologies. You will be involved throughout the product development lifecycle from early R&D, proof-of-concept development, product definition, development and system testing. You will work closely with our customers and partners to define system requirements and develop proof of concept demonstrations to showcase our technologies.
Responsibilities include
* Develop new technologies or repurpose existing technologies at early R&D stage
* Develop and promote system solutions solving customers current and emerging problems.
* Interact with customers to determine their system requirements, current approach, and challenges
* Translate customer requirements into system architectures comprising of ADI technologies and signal chains
* Drive ADI's business and technology roadmap by working with hardware and software development teams when there is a gap in our existing offering
* Support customers throughout their development cycle
Qualifications:
* Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years of experience in Electronic Engineering role
* System level hardware and software development experience necessary
* Basic understanding of energy systems, metrology principals, signal chains and sensors (CTs, Rogowski, Shunts, Hall, Potential dividers ..) is expected
* Experience of fault detectors, such as RCD, GFCI and AFCI is beneficial
* Technically savvy and showing an aptitude for new and innovative technologies
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop and articulate system requirements as part of a broader strategy
* Ability to travel some of the time to visit customers and collaborate with colleagues in the U.S., Europe, and Asia
