The National Screening Service (NSS) delivers four national population-based screening programmes – for cervical, breast, and bowel screening, and for detecting sight-threatening retinopathy in people with diabetes.
Our programmes focus on identifying early signs of disease in healthy individuals to:
* detect health issues early
* help prevent disease
* ensure early and effective treatment for those who develop the disease being screened for
* reduce the risk of disease or its complications
* support informed health decisions

The Opportunity
To assist with patient care delivery under supervision and guidance of Nursing or other Professional Staff.
The Health Care Assistant role at BreastCheck is broad and includes assisting in Assessment Clinics and supporting the Clinical Team with clients who have or fear they may have breast cancer.
There is currently one full-time vacancy at BreastCheck Merrion Screening Unit, Merrion Road, Dublin 4.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the Clinical team in providing ongoing support to clients and their families.
* Ensure good customer service to women and the team.
* Report any concerns or issues within the unit to the Unit Manager or supervisor.
* Contribute to a welcoming environment of dignity and respect for clients.
* Perform light housekeeping and maintain hygiene standards in the units.
* Provide beverages and snacks to clients as needed.
* Support the multidisciplinary team daily.
* Deliver specimens to the laboratory/theatre.
* Escort patients to hospital.
* Handle internal post between the unit and hospital.
* Support mobile units by preparing stock items.
* Assist with patient throughput and workflow.
* Prepare patients and assist during procedures, providing information and support.
* Assist in conference preparations.
