Speech and Language Therapist - Adults (Complex Needs)

Overview:
This role offers a qualified Speech and Language Therapist the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting adults with complex needs including intellectual disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury (ABI), and/or mental health conditions. The therapist will provide assessment, therapy, and communication-focused interventions that promote independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a caseload of adults with complex communication and/or swallowing needs
* Deliver evidence-based assessments and interventions
* Provide individual and group therapy, as appropriate
* Collaborate with MDT colleagues and contribute to care planning
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
* Support service development and participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives
* Offer informal supervision or mentoring to junior staff or students
* Participate in CPD activities and maintain professional registration
Essential Requirements:
* Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
* Current CORU registration (or in process if newly qualified)
* Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience working with adults with ID, ASD, ABI, or complex needs
* Experience in communication assessment and intervention
* Knowledge of dysphagia assessment and management (with post-grad training if applicable)
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Full driving licence and access to own transport
Desirable Skills/Experience:
* Experience with AAC systems and communication supports (e.g. LÁMH, PECS)
* Postgraduate training in adult dysphagia
* Involvement in service development or clinical audit
* Supporting behaviours of concern as part of a multidisciplinary plan
* Use of outcome measures to track clinical progress
* Experience supervising students or junior staff
