Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
Summary: Our client, a biopharmaceutical company situated in Dublin, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of capital and investment projects on site. The role involves managing engineering projects through the full lifecycle – from scope definition and design to execution, commissioning, qualification, and handover – while ensuring compliance with site quality systems, cGMP, and applicable regulatory requirements (HPRA/FDA).
Responsibilities
Deliver investment projects focused on utilities and building services, including HVAC heat recovery systems, heat pumps, chillers, and related infrastructure.
Collaborate with external engineering companies to complete design and execution when necessary.
Maintain strict budgetary control and adhere to agreed timelines.
Manage procurement activities related to projects, including tendering, purchasing, and invoice management.
Lead cross‑functional teams in project development and execution.
Prepare and support commissioning and qualification documentation and execution in accordance with site procedures.
Adhere to safe working practices outlined in the safety statement and company safety rules.
Monitor safe working practices of contractors on site.
Qualifications & Experience
Third‑level degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (required).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering engineering or capital projects within pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
Strong project management skills with ability to plan workload and meet tight timelines.
Experience managing external contractors and engineering service providers.
Effective communication with Site Management, Engineering disciplines, EHS, Production, and Quality teams.
Good understanding of safety procedures and standards applicable to construction and installation activities.
Project management qualification (PMP or equivalent) is an advantage.
