We have grown from a niche provider of residential prepayment gas and electricity to a large energy company covering several segments of the industry including our PrePayPower brand, Yuno residential bill pay product, Yuno Commercial electricity and gas, Yuno heat and Firmus energy in Northern Ireland.
Across the Island we supply 7 TWh of energy across Electricity, Gas, Heat and Oil supplies.
To support further growth and in particular commercial gas supply growth across the Island we are creating a new Gas Shipping and Trading team within our Forward trading department.
The aim of this team will be to bring in house our physical gas shipping and interconnector capacity management.
They will also support and help expand our existing gas prompt and forward gas trading activities, optimising our capacity position on a day-to-day basis, support business development opportunities in commercial gas and engage with supply side counterparties to expand our gas market coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Assist senior management with creation and set up of All Island Gas shipping team to support import and trading of gas from NBP to both IBP and NIBP
Set up of counterparty relationships and contracts across network operators, exchanges, bilateral and OTC counterparties
Assist senior management with set up of access to exchange trading
Oversight and monitoring of commercial positions for gas shipping
Develop strategies and operations procedures for physical gas trading, interconnector capacity bookings, IBP transactions, secondary capacity trading
Oversee gas desk operations and optimisation of prompt position
Support senior management on formulation and implementation of hedge strategy
Support risk and position management & development of risk management tools and reporting
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Typically 8+ years experience in a gas trading and shipping environment.
Degree or Higher Degree in Engineering, Physics, Sciences or other Quantitative field desirable.
Must have experience of physical gas shipping operations and work experience in the Irish, Northern Irish or GB markets would be preferential.
Experience of gas prompt trading and short term market dynamics would be advantageous
Understanding of GNI Code of Ops, GB UNC and constituent components and companies involved in shipping from GB to Island of Ireland is necessary
Have the ability to lay out the commercial and physical journey for a molecule of natural gas to travel from NBP to IBP including denoting the commercial relationships and contracts needed, collateral and credit cover requirements and calculations, IT systems, operational processes
Deep commercial understanding of capacity booking and portfolio optimisation and ability to formulate strategy around same
Understanding of commercial gas pricing would be preferable
Understanding of European wholesale gas market supply and demand fundamentals
