Mechanical Engineer Maintenance Team Lead
Location: Tipperary / Munster Region (with occasional travel beyond Munster)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead a team of maintenance and breakdown operatives working predominantly in the Munster region. The successful candidate will take ownership of daily team management, technical support, client liaison, and operational planning. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on service delivery, technical oversight, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise a team of 46 maintenance/breakdown operatives.
* Plan and schedule day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and efficient completion of works.
* Provide technical backup and troubleshooting guidance, particularly related to heat pump systems.
* Liaise with clients to coordinate site access, update on project progress, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Manage job costs and support budgeting, quoting, and procurement processes.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Maintain accurate records of works carried out and assist with reporting as required.
* Travel primarily within the Munster area, with occasional national coverage.
Candidate Requirements
**Essential:**
* Proven experience working with heat pumps in a mechanical, air-conditioning, or refrigeration setting.
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, breakdown diagnostics, and maintenance best practices.
* Experience in supervising technical teams and managing field operations.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Full clean driving licence.
* Based in or willing to relocate to the Tipperary / Munster region.
**Desirable:**
* Relevant trade qualification or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
* F-Gas certification or similar qualifications.
* Previous experience dealing directly with clients and managing cost control.
