Wills Bros is seeking a motivated and technically mindedField Automation Engineer (Heavy Plant)to support our growing operations acrossIrelandand theUK.This is a specialist, hands-on role at the cutting edge of construction technology, involving the installation, setup, and maintenance of advanced machine control systems on heavy plant machinery across major infrastructure projects.If you enjoy working with machinery, and problem-solving on-site, this is a unique opportunity to build a future-proof career in a fast-evolving field.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, and maintain machine control systemsFit sensors, GPS/GNSS antennas, radios, modems, and in-cab displays on heavy machineryEnsure all installations meet manufacturer and project specificationsDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faultsPerform routine maintenance, calibration, and system checksSupport system upgrades and integration with hydraulic and mechanical componentsCoordinate with operators, engineers, and project managers to ensure optimal machine performanceProvide technical guidance and support to site personnelAssist with basic surveying and measurement tasks; record accurate data (training provided)Maintain logs of work performed, system settings, and maintenance activitiesTravel between multiple project locations across Ireland and the UKQualifications & SkillsDegree, diploma, or recognised trade qualification in Mechatronic, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Auto Electrical, or related discipline essentialMinimum 5 years' experience working with heavy plant, agricultural machinery, or commercial vehicles essentialStrong technical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and electronic issuesUnderstanding of hydraulics and electro-hydraulic systemsAbility to read electrical schematics and wiring diagramsCompetent using laptops, tablets, and diagnostic software/equipmentKnowledge of GPS/GNSS technologyFull clean driving licence; willing to travel across Ireland and the UKValid Safe Pass (Ireland) / CSCS (UK)Valid Manual handling certificationTraining & DevelopmentComprehensive on-the-job trainingAccess to specialist third-party training providersOngoing development to become an expert in machine control systemsWhy Join Wills BrosBuild specialist skills in a high-growth, tech-driven areaWork with modern plant and leading machine control technologySupportive team culture with strong focus on learning and developmentBe part of major infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UKDisclaimer:Please note, we are not accepting CVs from agencies at this time.Contact Paula Murphy for further information
