Role Overview
This role offers the opportunity to join a fast-paced finance department within a dynamic logistics environment. The Accounts Payable Assistant will support the accounts payable function while also assisting with general administrative tasks. The position is hands-on and varied, providing excellent exposure to finance operations and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed timeframes
* Liaise with operational teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and queries
* Perform supplier statement reconciliations
* Manage inter-company and hub contra accounts, including limited sales invoicing and high-volume supplier invoice processing
* Assist with weekly payment runs
* Monitor and manage the accounts payable inbox, ensuring timely responses to internal and external queries
* Identify opportunities to improve invoice processing procedures and enhance efficiency
* Support ad-hoc finance projects as required
* Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the overall effectiveness of the finance function
Experience & Skills Required
* 1–2 years' experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role
* Previous experience in a busy office environment
* Experience within freight or logistics is an advantage but not essential
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Professional, focused, and proactive approach to work
* Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
* Flexible, adaptable, and open to change
* Demonstrated interest in continuous improvement and process optimisation
