My Dublin City Centre based client is recruiting for an ICT Systems Administrator this role will be hybrid working. The ICT Systems Administrator is required to support and manage a mixed on-premises and cloud infrastructure environment. The role focuses on maintaining high system availability, ensuring strong security practices, and delivering reliable IT services across Windows Server, VMware, and Microsoft Azure platforms. The successful candidate will have practical experience in server administration, virtualization technologies, and cloud solutions. They will work closely with technical teams and external partners to support day-to-day operations, resolve issues, contribute to project delivery, and implement improvements that enhance system performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Planning
Assist in shaping and implementing the overall infrastructure roadmap.
Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and best-practice frameworks.
Identify recurring issues and recommend sustainable long-term solutions.
Operational Delivery
Manage and respond to support requests and system alerts, ensuring timely resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
Contribute to capacity planning, risk assessments, and operational reviews.
Ensure all systems comply with internal policies, security requirements, and industry standards.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and vendors on upgrades, migrations, and new infrastructure deployments.
Support the delivery of planned IT initiatives and improvement projects.
Maintain up-to-date documentation across all systems and processes.
Technical Responsibilities
Support and maintain Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and hybrid Azure configurations.
Manage virtual environments across VMware vSphere and Azure, including virtual machines, hosts, storage, and networking components.
Support both physical and virtual network infrastructure.
Deploy, monitor, and maintain Azure resources such as VMs, storage, identity services, and virtual networks.
Perform system maintenance, patching, and upgrades to maintain performance, reliability, and security.
Implement and manage backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
Performance & Service Management
Participate in performance and development processes to support continual improvement.
Maintain clear reporting on objectives, KPIs, and operational tasks.
Ensure support tickets are resolved within agreed service levels and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Complete scheduled maintenance tasks and ensure system logs and documentation are updated accurately.
Collaboration & Communication
Contribute to regular team meetings and technical discussions.
Work closely with colleagues, end users, and suppliers to ensure services are delivered efficiently and professionally.
Share knowledge and provide cross-training to support team development.
Promote a collaborative, customer-focused approach across the IT function.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
A relevant third-level qualification (or equivalent experience/certifications such as AZ-800 or AZ-104).
At least 2 years’ experience in a system administration role covering infrastructure and application support.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server technologies, networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, and PowerShell.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services.
Hands‑on experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, hybrid Azure environments, and Microsoft 365.
