We are seeking a proactive Health & Safety Officer to support the ongoing development of our H&S standards and culture.
The role will work closely with the Head of H&S and operational teams to ensure compliance, support continuous improvement, and promote safe working practices across the site.

What You'll Be Doing
H&S management system: maintain and improve site H&S processes, policies/procedures, records and registers.
Risk assessment: complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks/operations, as required by the Head of H&S.
Legal compliance: ensure compliance with H&S legislation and company standards, including required reporting and record keeping.
Inspections & audits: conduct H&S inspections, behavioural safety checks and internal audits; coordinate regulatory/customer audits and close out actions.
Training & induction: coordinate induction/refresher and statutory training; maintain training records/matrices; liaise with external providers as needed.
Incident management: support accident/near-miss reporting, investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions; submit statutory notifications as required.
Safety culture: promote a proactive safety culture through visible engagement and coaching.
Emergency preparedness: coordinate fire drills and ensure emergency equipment checks (e.g., alarms, extinguishers) are completed and recorded.
H&S Committee & actions: support/coordinate Committee meetings, prepare agendas, and track EHS actions to completion.
Reporting & engagement: prepare EHS KPI reports and updates; attend meetings to present performance, risks and improvement plans.
External liaison: liaise with insurers, solicitors, regulators and other external stakeholders as required.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by management from time to time.
What You'll Need to Succeed
Essential: Recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Cert or equivalent) with practical experience in a similar role.
Desirable: Manual Handling Instructor qualification (or willingness to train).
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail; maintains accurate records and meets deadlines.
Clear communicator and confident presenter; able to influence, brief teams and deliver toolbox talks.
Self-starter with a proactive, solutions-focused approach; works independently and uses initiative.
Professional and discreet; maintains confidentiality and works collaboratively in a changing environment.
Competent IT skills (Microsoft 365) and confidence using digital reporting/audit systems.
