Consultant Otolaryngologist - University Hospital Waterford for 37 hours per week
This is an appointment to the HSE Dublin & South East Region on a Public Only Consultants' Contract **** by the Health Service Executive.
The initial commitment for this post will be to University Hospital Waterford for 37 hours per week.
This post may be subject to restructuring in the future to facilitate the reorganisation of acute services in line with new clinical models of acute and community services.
It is noted that the post must be congruent with the requirements of, and facilitate implementation of national health policy, the HSE's National Clinical Programmes including commitment to deliver the relevant performance outcomes.
Due to the establishment of the HSE Health regions and the geographic realignments of the CHO Areas/Hospital Groups within these regions, the appointing service may differ from that outlined in the Letter of Approval for this post
Main Duties of the Job
To attend at University Hospital Waterford at such times as may be determined by the Network Manager, or other designated officer, and in emergencies as required and to remain in attendance as long as their services are required.
To attend for consultation on patients in any part of the hospital when requested to do so and to act as Consultant Otolaryngologist as and when required by the Network Manager in any of the other hospitals of the Health Service Executive South East.
To attend as required at any clinic or hospital maintained by the Health Service Executive South and to provide either there or in the appropriate hospital, a diagnosis, or consultant service as may be appropriate for or in respect of eligible patients.
To contribute to the further development of ENT Services across HSE South East.
To provide cover in conjunction with colleagues in the area to ensure continuity of service delivery.
To hold office under the terms and conditions of the revised consultants' contract which will determine that s/he will participate actively in the management of the hospital, take cognisance of resource constraints and retain clinical autonomy while practising.
To participate in the overall management, including education, research and audit of the Regional ENT service.
To participate in multidisciplinary case conferences.
To participate in requisite CME, C.P.D, Audit and proactive risk management and facilitate production of all data/information required for same.
To comply with hospital, HSE policies and procedures including those pertaining to Hygiene.
To work with hospital and network management structures via the Clinical Director in the delivery of this service and the general efficiency of the hospital.
Information about the organisation
Care is delivered in a variety of settings.
New approaches and models of care to follow the care demands of the Health Service are being advanced within the context of overall healthcare reform, to include Sláintecare.
The Regional ENT Department based at University Hospital Waterford continues to provide high quality ENT care to the population of the HSE South East.
The population of the catchment area is 550,000.
The HSE South East covers the counties of Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and South Tipperary.
Adult and child ENT services are provided by the consultant staff based in the regional department.
Specialist services include:
Head and Neck Cancer
Thyroid Surgery
Specialist Surgical & Medical Rhinology
Skin Cancer
Otology
Specialist Voice Services
The complement of Consultant Otolaryngologist based at University Hospital Waterford is six, supported by 2 specialist registrars, 2 registrars and four SHO posts.
The appointment is whole-time, permanent and pensionable.
Annual salary, as per the Public Only Consultants' Contract ****, is €235,862, €248,612, €262,070, €269,154, €276,236, €283,318.
The standard working week is 37 hours per week.
The annual leave is 30 working days per annum.
