The Ireland Roads team is seeking an Assistant Engineer with post-qualification experience in the design and project management of road schemes and active travel schemes to work in our Limerick (N/M20 Project office). The role provides opportunities to lead a team and contribute to major national road schemes and public transport/active travel projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead and help grow a team undertaking concept, preliminary and detailed designs for major national road schemes (including the N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project).
* Work on Public Transport schemes (including Cork BusConnects and Metrolink) and active travel schemes for the National Transport Authority and Local Authorities.
* Participate in project management and technical delivery from inception through handover to clients; primarily client-facing with a track record of delivering schemes in local, regional, or national transport sectors.
* Coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs on projects of varying scale, complexity and value; ensure coordination and compatibility of outputs.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, proactively managing expectations and providing comprehensive advisory support.
* Provide technical leadership and review, and contribute to staff development.
* Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets; deliver discrete and overall project solutions.
* Lead and manage staff in the delivery of design drawings, construction details, specifications and bill of quantities; support tender package preparation.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
* Project management and technical delivery leadership of Road or Public Transport/Active Travel schemes, with experience of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority/Local Authority procedures.
* Experience with contract document preparation or contract administration/site supervision using Public Works Contracts.
* Chartered status with a relevant engineering institution.
* Experience or knowledge of alignment and drainage design software (e.g., Civil3D/Open Roads, WinDes) preferred but not essential.
* Strong communication, client management and interpersonal skills; excellent IT skills including MS Projects.
* Understanding and application of current design standards (e.g., DMURS, Traffic Signs Manual, Cycle Design Manual, TII/HG design guides) and related project management guidelines.
* Strong stakeholder management experience.
