Engineering Manager
Our client, a trusted partner to the global pharmaceutical industry based in Cork is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Deeply understands and translates customer needs into actionable operational plans.
* Builds lasting client relationships through reliability, responsiveness, and tailored engineering solutions.
* Places customer experience at the forefront of every operational and technical decision.
* Leads end-to-end delivery of multiple engineering projects, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, quality, and schedule-all through a customer-centric lens.
* Collaborates cross-functionally with Project Management, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality to align technical outputs with project milestones.
* Adapts to evolving customer requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.
* Ensures engineering, delivery, and support teams are unified under shared customer and business objectives.
* Allocates and manages engineering resources flexibly to meet changing project demands.
* Establishes and maintains robust engineering processes, documentation standards, and quality assurance systems.
* Identifies opportunities to streamline design cycles, enhance cost efficiency, and improve product performance.
* Contributes to strategic initiatives such as modular platform development, design-to-cost programs, and digital transformation.
* Engages and manages internal and external stakeholders through clear, empathetic, and proactive communication.
* Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation within the engineering function.
* Utilises digital tools and technology to enhance project visibility, forecasting, and performance reporting.
* Tracks performance using KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making.
* Promotes the use of CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and design standardisation to increase design efficiency and consistency.
* Understands business models, margin structures, and customer lifetime value to guide engineering priorities.
* Aligns day-to-day operations and technical execution with the company's broader strategic and customer relationship goals.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* 10+ years of mechanical design experience in a fast-paced, project-driven engineering or manufacturing environment, including proven leadership or managerial experience.
* Demonstrated success delivering complex technical projects within manufacturing or equipment fabrication settings.
* Strong knowledge of design for GMP environments-experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences sectors preferred.
* Proficient in 3D CAD systems (e.g., SolidEdge) and engineering documentation best practices.
* Exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills.
* High attention to detail with a structured, proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
