Receptionist/Trainee Information Officer
Longford Town Suburbs Project CLG, County Longford, Sports & Leisure

Job Description
This position offers a developmental opportunity with accredited training. The role is based at the North Longford Citizens Information Centre and supports the Development Manager.
Responsibilities

Ensure day‑to‑day reception duties are conducted professionally.
Provide sensitive and non‑judgmental service to clients.
Respond to public queries in line with North Leinster Citizens Information Service guidelines; signpost to appropriate services.
Answer phone calls, record messages, and ensure staff/volunteers receive messages.
Maintain adequate stock of publications, leaflets, and application forms.
Record client queries using the electronic ‘Oyster’ system.
Handle office post, logging all inbound and outbound mail via the online platform.
Ensure visitors sign into the local office sign‑in book.
Perform clerical and administrative duties such as checking tea/coffee/milk supplies, managing petty cash, and preparing for meetings or boardroom use.
Manage the reception queue and monitor waiting times according to procedure.
Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Organisation, administrative, IT, communication, and time‑management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook 365.
Understanding of information, advice and advocacy service delivery.
Basic knowledge of Social Welfare, housing, health and income systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and English comprehension.
Self‑initiative and ability to work within a team.
Ability to understand and implement organisational policy.

Willing to undertake and attend the provided training.
Flexible with changing days/shifts as required.
