Caretaker Newry Location: Newry Town Hall Hours: 37 per week Pay Rate: From £13.63 per hour Main Purpose of the Role To ensure the cleanliness, upkeep, maintenance, and security of Newry and Warrenpoint Town Halls, while supporting public events and ensuring health and safety compliance. The role requires flexibility to adapt to evolving responsibilities under Local Government Reform. Key Duties and Responsibilities Operations & Maintenance Clean and maintain all areas inside and outside the Town Halls. Set up rooms and equipment for meetings and events. Operate heating systems and perform regular fire alarm tests. Report hazards and maintenance issues. Event & Venue Support Open/close buildings and oversee access during events. Operate lighting and sound equipment. Supervise event stewards and assist with emergency procedures. Liaise with clients on event setups and requirements. Security & Cover Conduct security checks and lock premises. Act as keyholder for alarm call-outs on a rota basis. Provide cover for caretaker/security staff and supervise reception when needed. Transport & Equipment Drive Town Hall van for deliveries. Operate hoists and use safety harness systems. General Duties Follow Council policies and Health & Safety regulations. Maintain confidentiality and complete required documentation. Participate in training and represent the Council positively. Perform any other duties relevant to the role.
