Job Description

Role: Operational Specialist

Reports to: Senior Value Stream Manager / Director Finished Goods

Location: Cork, Ireland

Job Description

The Operations Specialist is responsible for providing day to day technical support to operations and improving processes by leading investigations and executing corrective actions, driving process improvement, equipment setup, testing and documentation etc.

Main Duties / Responsibilities


* Leads non-conformance investigations and completes associated actions including NC origination, bounding, product control, correction, and documentation within the quality management system
* Utilizes failure analysis tools (i.e. 5M analysis) to conduct robust investigations. Analyzes data and recommends actions for process, equipment, and system improvement
* Implements corrections to maintain process performance and compliance to GMP, and ISO requirements. Including executing changing controls, raising document change controls etc. to update procedures and write protocols
* Proactively identifies synergies for CIP across value streams to reduce inefficiency/promote best practises
* Provides other technical support as required.
* Owns periodic review and SOP creations for their respective area
* Co-ordinates long term resolutions of technical issues between Operations and Support Functions
* Supports digital and process integration as required
* Supports technical transfers/ NPI/ Insourcing as required
* Coordinates and assist in risk assessments and develops solutions to complex issues that require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation.
* Engages with stakeholders to redefine standardised approach to technical problem solving with a business and quality compliance focus.
* Provides training and education to the manufacturing team(s) as needed
* Acts in accordance with safety regulations and procedures
* Directs associates and other staff as needed and deputizes for Value Stream Managers and Team Leaders as required.
* Accepts or initiates special projects. Plans and organizes assignments to ensure completion of projects in a timely fashion.
* Accountable to ensuring all worldwide corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements for GMP, EHS and Quality are met.
* Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to management.
* Performs other duties assigned as needed.
* Challenges status quo and leads by example.

Essential

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

* Engineering, industrial engineering or other technical degree or equivalent.
* Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
* Demonstrated problem solver
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders to implement streamlined manufacturing processes
* Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.

Desirable

* Master’s in business administration/production/engineering management
* Previous experience within the Healthcare/Medical Devices Sector
* Knowledge of capacity planning
* Basic project management skills.
* Formal 6-sigma/process excellence certification
