Responsibilities
Operate welding equipment to join metalwork pieces together.
Use fusion welding processes based on various techniques and materials.
Perform simple visual inspection of welds.
Perform fillet welds and MIG welding, and read drawings.
Wear appropriate protective gear and adhere to safety standards.
Smooth burrs and recognize metal imperfections.
Use sheet metal to construct roofs, ducts for heating & vents, gutters, and other metal structures.
Read plans and determine the type and amount of materials to be used.
Measure, bend, cut, shape, and attach metal pieces to build required structures.
Operate welding equipment, including oxy‑fuel torch and handheld riveting equipment.
Interpret 2D and 3D plans and tend metal sawing machines.
Apply arc and spot welding techniques and precision metalworking techniques.
Ensure correct metal temperature and manage fuels.
Recognize signs of corrosion and remove inadequate workpieces.
Perform metal active gas welding and inert gas welding.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years’ welding and fabrication experience.
Welding certification preferred.
Knowledge of welding techniques, torch temperature for metal processes, metal thermal conductivity, and fuel gas.
Experience in welding from drawings (2D and 3D), MIG welding, and fillet welds.
Familiarity with metal joining technologies, rivet types, and metal types.
Ability to align components, join metals, and operate welding equipment.
Proficiency in operating handheld riveting equipment and tending metal sawing machines.
Competence in applying arc, spot, active gas, and inert gas welding techniques.
Skill in recognizing corrosion and removing defective workpieces.
Annual Remuneration: €36,605.00; Pay rate €18.05 per hour. The work schedule is 39 hours per week at Dundrum, Co. Tipperary.
