Your new role Your new role as an Electrical Design Engineer will be to provide services in the areas of HV Station design in a timely and cost-effective manner to facilitate the delivery of capital and maintenance projects and programmes.
In this role you will provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.As an HV Station designer, you must be able to understand the methodology of station control systems, network operations and protection schemes, safety implications, and have developed detailed knowledge of station HV equipment and its operation.
Key Responsibilities The planning, scoping & costing of projects in high voltage SubstationsPreparation of preliminary health and safety documentation and design risk assessments.Preparation of detailed electrical designs, including layouts, schematics & wiring schedules.Comply with safety legislation and act as PSDP contact on projects on behalf of the PSDPLiaising and coordinating with designers in other disciplinesLiaising with external contractors and design teams while maintaining commercial focusExperience with an Electrical Design CAE system such as E-Plan or AutoCAD ElectricalReporting to hv stations design manager, delivery assurance, network customer & project deliveryProviding technical support throughout the HV substation lifecycle.Covering all northern regions, Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Athlone, Carlow, Kilkenny, Dublin, Finglas, Dundalk, Drogheda, Cavan What you need to succeed Essential Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate OR a suitable Level 7 or higher qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical, Building Services OR other suitable qualification with a sizeable electrical contentA minimum of 3 years' electrical experience or equivalent design work experience is essential.Have proficiency and adaptability to a CAD/CAE System such as MicroStation or AutoCAD.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Desirable A track record of implementing standards, policies and quality systems to ensure optimum designsDisplays knowledge of HV network assets – HV StationsUnderstands and applies relevant approved Quality Management systems and standardsProject Management skills What you get in return Salary of €48,000 to €56,000 per annum (depending on experience)Generous pensionProgressive, hybrid working modelCareer development through mentoring and trainingCorporate social responsibility opportunitiesSports and social clubsNetworking opportunitiesCredit unionAccess to staff well-being programmesOpportunity to lead Ireland's transition to a net-zero carbon futureGenerous parental leave entitlementsStrong values-based and inclusive cultureStrong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusionGreat team environment working to our core values: courageous, caring, driven and trusted#LI-DNI #1121737 - Sean O'Connor
