Role Overview
The Social Care Assistant will be part of a day and residential support team, working intensively with individuals to understand and support their personal goals and promote an inclusive, person-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
Advocate for the human, legal and constitutional rights of service users, empowering them to make decisions and pursue autonomy.
Facilitate and encourage choice, decision-making, self-advocacy, and personal hobbies and interests.
Provide person-centered support in activities such as occupation, communication, behaviour support, independent living skills, social integration, personal care, and development.
Support physical and emotional wellbeing, including mobility, infection control, personal hygiene, and health promotion.
Assist with centre functions: laundry, cleaning, transport, and outings.
Maintain accurate records, reports, incident logs, and financial statements.
Report incidents, accidents, and concerns to the Person in Charge.
Assist in implementing person-centered plans and participating in resident reviews.
Drive centre transport and meet transport duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award in Social Care Studies or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities.
Understanding of current policy developments in social care services at national and sectoral level.
Ability to follow plans and methods to meet ongoing individual needs.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).
Full driver’s licence and own car availability.

Details of the Role
Salary: €16.77 per hour
Duration: Fixed-term relief contract, one year
