About the Role
This is not a “keep the lights on” finance role.
You will step into a broad Financial Accountant position with real ownership across month-end, payroll, and day-to-day finance operations. With a structured handover ahead of maternity leave, you will be set up to succeed from day one.
You will work closely with an experienced Finance Director and an Accounts Assistant, giving you visibility, support, and influence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Own month-end close and bring accounts through to completion
Run monthly payroll
Manage AP/AR, invoicing, and cash collection
Prepare VAT and PAYE returns
Perform balance sheet reconciliations
Support budgeting, reporting, and cashflow tracking
Partner with non-finance teams on commercial activity
Drive process improvements in a highly automated environment
Candidate Profile
3+ years in a Financial Accounting or similar role
Strong payroll experience is essential
Comfortable owning month-end processes end-to-end
Advanced Excel is a plus (environment is automated, but curiosity matters)
Open to candidates from industry, practice, contract backgrounds, or returners
Hands‑on, organised, and commercially aware
