Consultant in Stroke Medicine (5 PAs Available)
Applications are invited for the above position in one of Scotland’s major teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will be based within the Stroke team at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
The Stroke Service in NHS Tayside has undergone significant change with centralisation of stroke admissions for the whole of Tayside in a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Ninewells Hospital. This has led to significant improvements in care as measured by the Scottish Stroke Care Audit and made the staffing model more sustainable. Ninewells is planned to be the Thrombectomy Centre for the North of Scotland, with phased introduction of this treatment towards a 24/7 service. The successful applicant will join the dynamic and innovative team developing and delivering this exciting new service with our Interventional Radiology colleagues.
Responsibilities
Participate in evening on-call rota for the stroke service
Contribute to the Acute Medical Unit rota
Take part in postgraduate training and education
Collaborate in research and quality improvement initiatives
Work across the health and care system to develop new care pathways, including rehabilitation
Qualifications
MRCP and be on the GMC Specialist Register in Stroke Medicine and General Medicine, or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT, or already possess CESR (CP) at the time of interview
Less than full-time applications will be considered
Hours of work: 5 PAs (20 hours) per week.
