About The Business Unit
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key sectors: Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water.
About The Team
The MEP Team in Ireland collaborates on a wide variety of projects in the Built Environment, Transport, Water and Advisory sectors across our three offices, in Belfast, Dublin and Cork.
Overview Of The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your role will include assessing and understanding project requirements, undertaking mechanical design across a number of disciplines and agreeing timescales and specifications with design teams, clients and managers.
You will lead and direct junior staff, actively involve yourself in the preparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, and interpret commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence on multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities And Duties Include
Managing the delivery of assigned mechanical and building services elements of multi-disciplinary projects across a range of sectors.
Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines to deliver projects.
Managing internal and external stakeholders.
Carrying out design and calculation work using relevant industry software (IES, Revit, etc).
Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in-depth knowledge while proactively coaching and developing junior team members.
Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects.
Maximising profitability of projects, monitoring against budget and communicating potential problems in line with client expectations.

Process / plant water
Reverse osmosis (RO) water
Medical gases
Natural ventilation systems
HVAC systems
Refrigeration
Specialist extract systems
BMS (Building Management Systems) and SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) systems
Instrumentation, control and automation systems
Services coordination and integration of plant and equipment in buildings and for underground services
BIM, AutoCAD and Revit
Site experience an advantage
Candidate specification
Essential
B.Eng / M.Eng
Chartered Engineer
Experience leading mechanical services on multi-disciplinary projects
Experience mentoring and leading graduate engineers
Enthusiastic and ambitious attitude
Excellent communication skills, including report writing and presentation
Ability to lead electrical elements of one large project or a portfolio of smaller projects
Experience managing client relationships and expectations; attendance at client-facing meetings via Teams
