Role Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of facility development, expansion, and optimisation projects within complex operational environments. The role combines engineering, project management, and analytical expertise to develop innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency, maximise facility utilisation, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead facility design, redevelopment, and expansion projects from concept through implementation.
Analyse operational requirements, throughput volumes, storage capacity, inventory profiles, and workflow processes to develop effective design solutions.
Create and optimise facility layouts using AutoCAD, incorporating storage systems, material handling equipment, conveyors, and automation technologies.
Prepare business cases, capital expenditure (CAPEX) estimates, implementation plans, and technical presentations to support investment decisions.
Manage greenfield developments, site expansions, and facility remodelling projects while ensuring delivery against agreed scope, budget, and timelines.
Coordinate cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, maintenance, contractors, and suppliers.
Develop detailed project schedules and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
Support procurement activities through the preparation of RFPs, supplier evaluations, bid analysis, and vendor performance management.
Collaborate with contractors and specialist providers on construction, infrastructure, fire protection, refrigeration, lighting, and facility improvement projects.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, process optimisation, cost reduction, and facility performance enhancement.
Conduct process mapping, data analysis, and performance measurement to identify opportunities for operational improvement and quantify business benefits.
Provide engineering, project management, and analytical support across multiple sites and business functions.
3 to 6 years of project-related warehouse design work
2 to 4 years of implementation or project management
experience preferred
Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
Advanced knowledge and capabilities with Microsoft Excel,
Word, PowerPoint, familiarity with Visio, VBA & SQL
General understanding of facility layout and design
