We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.Job SummaryThe Immune Monitoring Laboratory at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute is seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist with a keen interest in immunology and a passion for supporting transformative cell therapy research. This position offers a rare opportunity to work directly with novel and FDA-approved CAR-T and other immune-based therapies in cancer and autoimmune disease, through close collaboration with the Maus Laboratory and multiple clinical trials.We are especially excited to welcome candidates who have experience with flow cytometry or a strong desire to grow their cytometry expertise, as this role provides the opportunity to contribute to complex immune profiling and high-parameter assays. Whether you are already skilled in flow cytometry or eager to expand your capabilities, we will provide training and support for continued development.Our mission is to deliver high-quality immune monitoring data and correlative analyses that help understand mechanisms of efficacy, toxicity, resistance, and long-term response. We are a collaborative and supportive team that values curiosity, precision, and continuous improvement. This position reports to the Laboratory Manager and works closely with scientists, clinicians, and research staff across the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute QualificationsEssential FunctionsPerform multi-parameter flow cytometry using BD FACSLyric and spectral Cytek Aurora instruments to assess immune phenotype and CAR-T response. Increasing levels of data analysis and interpretation are encouraged as experience grows.Process and bank clinical research specimens, including blood, bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid, and solid tissues collected from patients undergoing immune-based therapies.Take a lead role in the development, optimization, and scientific refinement of immune monitoring assays, including spectral flow and molecular methodologies.Perform and report immunoassays, including ELISA and multiplex cytokine profiling, using Luminex and ELLA platforms.Extract DNA using the QIAcube, perform and analyze ddPCR to support CAR-T expansion monitoring in clinical trials.Conduct cell sorting using the SONY MA900 in accordance with study needs.Support validation, verification, and implementation of new technologies into laboratory workflows.Take a lead role in QC processes, oversee preventative maintenance, and calibration of specialized instruments.Maintain meticulous data accuracy, sample tracking, and documentation aligned with regulatory and institutional standards.Troubleshoot challenges and contribute to process improvement and laboratory efficiency.Assist in onboarding and mentoring new team members to foster a strong learning culture.Draft and revise SOPs and method validation documents within established document control procedures.Participate in incident investigations and corrective action efforts to support quality managementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Immunology, Biology, or related life science field is required. MLS ASCP board certification is preferred.ExperienceMinimum 2 years of paid laboratory experience is required.Prior immunology coursework or research experience is required.Experience in a clinical, GCLP, or similarly regulated laboratory environment would be desirable.Hands-on experience with clinical flow cytometry and exposure to spectral flow cytometry and data analysis software would be valuable.Experience in assay development and validation would be advantageous.Skills and CompetenciesExcellent communication and documentation skills with meticulous methodological record keeping.Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn new technologiesTakes initiative to troubleshoot and contribute to continuous improvement in lab workflowsThe ability to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple tests and tasks, especially in a fast-paced environment.Good hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity.A firm understanding and commitment to safety protocols, GCLP standards and ethical guidelines for handling patient information and test integrity.
