Clinical Nurse Specialist – Renal / Ambulatory Care

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (Approx. 18 Months)
Working Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with expertise in Renal Nursing to join a leading ambulatory care service in Galway. This is an exciting contract role, ideal for a nursing professional who thrives in autonomous practice and is passionate about improving outcomes in chronic kidney care.
The Role:
As Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality haemodialysis care, driving transplant coordination, and managing clinical interventions aligned with the latest evidence-based guidelines. You’ll also be at the forefront of nurse-led services, championing patient advocacy and best practice in renal health.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate key elements of the haemodialysis service, including anaemia and bone mineral disorder management.
* Lead transplant work-up, evaluation, and post-transplant follow-up for eligible patients.
* Prescribe and manage the Hepatitis B vaccination programme, including titre monitoring and booster protocols.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver patient-centred care plans.
* Analyse and report monthly audit data and clinical metrics for quality assurance.
* Provide clinical education, specialist advice, and promote health awareness among patients.
* Maintain a strong focus on infection control and patient safety.
What We’re Looking For:
* Registered Nurse (RGN) with active NMBI registration.
* Postgraduate qualification in Renal Nursing (essential).
* Strong experience working with haemodialysis patients in a clinical setting.
* Confident in clinical decision-making, nurse prescribing, and working independently.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Fully eligible to work in Ireland.
