Summary of the Business
The National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA) provides asset and liability management services to the Irish Government. It manages a diverse portfolio of public assets and liabilities, including the National Debt, State Claims Agency, the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, and other units. The NTMA also provides services to Affiliate Agencies, including NAMA, HBFI and SBCI.
Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated graduate to join the NTMA Compliance Unit on a 23-month Associate Programme commencing in September 2026. The programme is open to graduates with a degree in Law / Compliance / Risk or related discipline. The NTMA Compliance Unit provides support and assurance on compliance matters across the NTMA and Affiliate Agencies, offering independent challenge, advice and support on statutory, governance and other compliance obligations, including anti-money laundering and data protection services to NTMA Affiliate Agencies.
Principal Accountabilities
* Reporting to the Compliance Manager, provide general compliance support and assist with data protection and financial crime risk tasks.
* Assist with the administration of the compliance training and communications plan, track joiners/leavers/contractors, and support the annual training rollout.
* Support governance reporting schedules for Board and Committee meetings and help ensure awareness of submission dates within the team.
* Monitor the Compliance group mailboxes and route queries to the appropriate team members.
* Schedule meetings and ensure supporting material is circulated to participants.
* Assist in collating metrics for governance reporting and service delivery information.
* Track Gifts & Hospitality notifications and raise queries with senior team members as needed.
* Assist with periodic Assurance and Monitoring work and year-end attestations, sign-offs, and Integrated Assurance activities.
* Assist with financial crime risk checks on counterparties as required.
* Update Compliance training/presentation material under guidance from senior team members.
* Handle ad-hoc queries and requests for advice as appropriate.
Knowledge
* Some understanding of financial markets and knowledge of products, services and practices within the financial services sector.
* Awareness of compliance, data protection and financial crime obligations.
* Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Excel, Teams) and project management tools.
Experience
* Ability to work in a pressurised environment and manage internal and external relationships.
* Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent professional qualification.
Skills
* Team player, self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills; relationship building is key in a complex organisation.
* Methodical approach to tasks and monitoring exercises.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
* Good analytical skills and ability to form balanced, objective views.
* Proactive in seeking solutions to support compliance across NTMA businesses and Affiliate Agencies.
Learning and Development
Associates typically complete additional training and professional examinations, supported by NTMA with a detailed associate training programme and network, plus on-the-job training. At the end of the programme, a solid knowledge base of the NTMA Compliance unit and wider NTMA is developed.
