Your new company This client is a large Electrical Engineering and Construction company with bases worldwide.
Recently they have begun to expand in Ireland, and are seeking a Bid Manager to oversee the tendering process within the company.
Your new role The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the tendering process within the company, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality, competitive bids that align with the company's business objectives.
This role involves coordinating with various departments, understanding client requirements, preparing compelling proposals, and fostering client relationships to secure new business opportunities within the Irish market.
Further responsibilities below: 1.
Tender Management and Preparation: Lead the end-to-end tendering process for energy-related projects, from initial qualification to submission.
Analyse tender documents and customer requirements, assessing opportunities, feasibility, risks, and potential for the company.
Develop comprehensive and competitive bids, proposals, and pricing structures to maximise profitability while meeting client expectations.
Ensure compliance with all technical, financial, legal, and regulatory standards required within the Irish energy industry.
Identify/Develop a reliable Supply Chain for the various activities within our sector.
Keep our Project Reference List updated with all completed projects & develop associated Case Studies for same.

Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with engineering, project management, finance, procurement, administration and legal teams to gather input for bid proposals.
Coordinate with external suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather accurate data and cost estimates.
Act as a liaison between clients, consultants, and the internal team to ensure clear communication and expectations alignment.
Mentoring & Management of Junior Tendering Engineers.

Market and Industry Analytics: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to keep abreast of industry trends and identify new opportunities.
Analyse market conditions, identify tender opportunities in the Irish energy market, and work proactively to develop strategies to secure contracts.
Maintain a solid understanding of energy policies, regulatory changes, and developments within the energy sector in Ireland.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assess and manage risks associated with tender proposals, including financial, legal, operational, and environmental factors.
Work with the risk management team to ensure all risks are identified, mitigated, and documented in line with company policies.

Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders within the energy industry.
Lead negotiations and communicate effectively with clients to align with requirements and ensure smooth contract awards.
Present bids to clients, address any clarifications, and participate in post-tender negotiations.

Documentation and Reporting Ensure Governance is followed in-line with client's Project Delivery Process Ensure all bid documentation is accurate, complete, and meets the client's requirements and deadlines.
Develop and maintain a database of tenders, including lessons learned, for continuous improvement.
Prepare regular reports on tender status, win/loss analysis, and overall performance metrics for senior management.
What you'll need to succeed Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in tendering, proposals, or project management within the energy or utilities sector, ideally within the Irish or EU market.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the energy industry, specifically in renewable energy, power generation, or infrastructure projects.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
Familiarity with tendering software and CRM tools.
Financial Acumen: Ability to prepare accurate and competitive pricing and financial models.
Project Management: Strong organisational and project management skills, with experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder bids.
Negotiation and Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
