Overview
Youth Work Ireland (Galway Youth Federation) is looking for dedicated individuals to join a developmental Youth Work Programme.
Eligibility
Eligibility to participate is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more, or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.
Responsibilities
Supervise young people aged 10 to 24 in various project groups.
Facilitate a range of activities and programmes in Sport, Health Promotion, Education, Hobbies/Interests, Music and Regional/National Events.
Perform administrative tasks, facilitate programmes, and coach young people.
Participate in training as part of the programme.
Engage in areas of youth work such as Mental Health and Community Development.
Complete on‑the‑job and course‑led training to progress to QQI level 3 up to HETAC 7.
Develop skills in work experience, social and societal matters, and general life skills.
Qualifications & Experience
No prior experience required; accredited training will be provided.
Preferred experience in volunteering or paid roles with young people (e.g., GAA, Scouting, Youth Group, Church).
Specific skill sets or hobbies that would benefit youth projects such as Sport, Music, Art, Photography, Martial Arts, Business, Tutoring, Teaching, Childminding, IT expertise.
