This is a great opportunity for a commercially driven technical professional to help grow market share across Ireland.What's on OfferCompetitive salary packageBonus schemeCompany car & fuel cardPrivate healthcare allowancePension, DIS & dependent benefitsHybrid working support (laptop, home office equipment)Additional leave days & employee wellbeing programmesFlexible working policiesThe OpportunityThe Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for expanding and strengthening the company's presence across Ireland, working with customers in manufacturing, machinery automation, process industry, OEMs, system integrators, and engineering consultancies.Reporting to the Sales Team Leader in Ireland, this role will focus on:Growing the market for automation components, systems, and engineering servicesDeveloping long-term relationships with new and existing customersDriving opportunities from initial concept through to order placementActing as a technical expert for automation applicationsYou will also work closely with colleagues in sales, product support, marketing, and distribution to deliver a best-in-class customer experience.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and grow revenue within a defined customer baseBuild strong customer relationships to increase repeat business and "share of wallet"Identify and convert new prospects into active customersProvide pre-sales and post-sales technical support across the product and services portfolioPrepare proposals and manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to closeSupport engineering and upgrade projects in machinery safety, process automation, and industrial securityMaintain accurate CRM records and produce sales activity reportsCollaborate with internal teams to support strategic growth initiativesEnsure compliance with organisational policies, safety standards, and documentation practicesThe PersonEssentialMinimum 5 years' technical sales experience in automation, controls, electrical switchgear or a related sectorProven success managing customer accounts and delivering revenue growthStrong technical understanding of automation technologies such as PLCs, motion control, sensors, relays, safety systems, control panels, or distributed control systemsAbility to discuss both technical and commercial aspects of automation projects at all levelsFull clean driving licence and willingness to travel nationwideStrong initiative, communication skills, and a consultative sales approachCompetence with CRM systems, sales tools, and standard IT applicationsHighly AdvantageousKnowledge of machine safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849)Familiarity with industrial security and risk assessment methodologiesExperience selling into Life Sciences, MedTech, or Food & Beverage sectorsSAP experiencePostgraduate qualification in business or sales
