Summary

Plan and deliver a high-profile programme of conferences, roundtables and digital communications bringing together NGOs, government and European partners during Ireland's EU Council Presidency (hybrid, starting April 2026, 12-month contract).

Background

Dóchas connects, strengthens and represents a network of international development and humanitarian organisations who have a shared vision of a just, sustainable and equal world. Dóchas unites 56 organisations, ranging from small specialist charities to large international NGOs with a worldwide presence. Our members are committed to human rights, justice and the eradication of poverty, and demonstrate this through their work in international development, protection, humanitarian assistance, sustainability, education and inclusion.

Dóchas is the lead network for the EU Presidency Project (EUPP). The EUPP brings together national and pan-European NGO platforms for development and relief representing the current and upcoming EU Council Presidencies. During the Irish Presidency (July – December 2026), Dóchas aims to facilitate a greater understanding, and heightened support of, a values-based approach to international cooperation and ODA. The thematic priories will be:

- Civil Society in International Cooperation

- Financing for the future of sustainable development cooperation

- Climate & Food Security

Dóchas will work closely with its members, European partners, including CONCORD and VOICE, as well as other key stakeholders to deliver upon its key areas of work. The key areas of focus for Dóchas during the Presidency include:

- Financial Support (sub-granting) to civil society organisations to mobilise Irish citizens and raise awareness of the EU's Global action, sustainable development and the role of civil society;

- Three high level events

- Thematic Roundables with key stakeholders

- Development of Policy papers

- Study trips to Brussels

- Online workshops & seminars

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Events and Communications officer to lead the delivery of a comprehensive events programme. This is a unique opportunity to work with Irish development and humanitarian organisations, and key stakeholders, and coordinate multiple events that will bring together Irish development and humanitarian organisations, government officials, parliamentarians, European partners and experts.

Over the year contract period, which includes the term of the Irish Presidency (1 July 2026 to 31 December 2026) you will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination of diverse event formats including in-person workshops, online workshops and webinars, roundtables and conferences. This role requires exceptional organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.

- Coordinate end-to-end delivery of events across multiple formats (conferences, in-person workshops, webinars, roundtables)

- Source and manage venue selection, booking, and logistics for in-person events

- Manage online event platforms and technical infrastructure for virtual and hybrid events

- Coordinate registration processes, attendee communications, and participant experience from initial invite through post-event follow-up

- Develop detailed project plans and timelines for concurrent event delivery, managing dependencies and critical paths

- Work closely with subject matter experts to develop and coordinate learning content

- Facilitate content planning sessions and pull together materials from multiple contributors

- Coordinate speakers, panelists, and facilitators, ensuring they have briefings and materials needed

- Develop marketing plans for the Irish Presidency including materials and content for the promotion of events, and to encourage participation and engagement

- Manage EU Presidency social media activity across platforms

- Produce creative content including videos, graphics, and posts to drive engagement.

- Maintain and update website content on EU Presidency and events

- Ensure all events align with brand standards

- Act as primary point of contact for event-related queries and logistics

- Manage event budgets and track expenditure against approved allocations

- Source, contract, and manage relationships with suppliers (venues, catering, AV, printing, etc.)

- Process supplier invoices and coordinate payments in accordance with organisational procedures

- Maintain accurate financial records and reporting for all events

- Update Salesforce or equivalent CRM with event data, attendance, and stakeholder engagement; and generate reports on event delivery, attendance, feedback, and impact metrics

- Support continuous improvement of event processes and systems

- Work closely with the EU Presidency policy officer for the delivery of Dóchas' Programme of events.

- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required, consistent with the level and purpose of the role

Requirements

Minimum 2‑3 years' experience in events coordination; marketing and/or project management. Demonstrated experience managing and marketing multiple concurrent events. Experience coordinating both in-person and online/virtual events. Experience generating resources and materials to develop skills and knowledge (learning content). Experience of using Canva or other design and video editing packages. Exceptional organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Proficient in the English Language). Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities. Creative, with an eye for detail and quality design. Budget management and financial tracking capabilities. Problem‑solving mindset with ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in Google suite and experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.

Terms & Conditions

- Salary Bandwidth: €40 k

- Nature of contract: 12 months fixed term contract

- Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus Good Friday, and half day Christmas Eve.

- Hybrid Policy: Minimum 2 core days in Dublin office (Tuesday & Wednesday) with flexibility for in‑person events and meetings on other days. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person (as needed) on non‑core days.
