Quality Manager (Mechanical)

Location:
Dublin 15, with travel across our regions

Contract:
Full-time

Designer Group is expanding, and we're looking for a Mechanical Quality Manager who can drive our Quality ethos across Ireland, the UK, Europe, Africa and South America. This is a key leadership role supporting our growing mechanical portfolio and ensuring our projects deliver the highest engineering standards in the industry.

Based at our Dublin HQ, you will act as the central coach, subject matter expert and escalation point for quality across all business units. You will report directly to the Group Quality Manager, with escalation to the QEHS Director.

The Opportunity

This role is critical to ensuring Designer Group maintains a flawless delivery mindset and strengthens our ISO9001:2015 accredited Quality Management System globally. You will lead, influence and support teams to deliver "Right First Time", every day, everywhere.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain and continuously improve the Mechanical Quality Management System
* Lead, coach and support mechanical quality performance across all regions
* Manage Mechanical QA reporting, KPIs and digital dashboards
* Lead, coordinate and develop the Mechanical Quality Assurance team (Field QA, Test Pack Engineers, Welding Coordinators, Inspectors, NDT Specialists)
* Drive proactive quality improvements through visible leadership and engagement
* Approve First-of-Kind mock-ups, benchmarks and playbooks
* Oversee development of system and equipment test packs
* Manage data accuracy across DG and client digital QA platforms (e.g. Procore, Eida)
* Work closely with Operations on documentation, walkdowns, system handover and completeness
* Monitor and manage snag trends, ensuring issues are addressed promptly
* Conduct regular audits and inspections across regions
* Manage and coordinate 3rd party inspections and NDT contractors
* Conduct root cause analysis, FMEA and implement corrective actions
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and client specifications
* Train project teams on QA best practice
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and Quality-focused culture programmes

Skills & Requirements

* EU Passport (role requires mobility across regions)
* Full clean driving licence
* Third-level engineering qualification or relevant mechanical trade background
* 5+ years' experience in Mechanical QA/QC
* Strong knowledge of ISO9001 standards and audit processes
* Experience with Piping Systems, P&IDs, ASME codes and welding procedures
* Internal Auditor (ISO9001) experience
* CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent certification highly advantageous
* Additional quality inspection qualifications (Paint/Coatings etc.) a plus
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience using digital QA systems (Procore, Eida or similar)
* IT literacy and comfort with large data-driven platforms
* Flexibility to travel across DG's regions of operation
