About the Role:
This role involves working as a Databricks and Python Developer with a strong background in AWS. The position is responsible for development and technical support, emphasizing customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. The main goal is to develop and support banking data solutions.
Experience in Machine Learning/AI projects is a plus.
Experience in Banking or Finance is desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Databricks on AWS, with the ability to adapt quickly to new environments. The role involves collaboration with Business units and the Technology Group, with occasional travel required.
Duties include:
1. Analysis, design, development, support, and maintenance of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Lakehouse infrastructures.
2. Technical expertise on data pipelines and ETL processes.
3. Solid understanding of SQL and Data Modelling.
4. Hands-on experience with Databricks on AWS cloud solutions.
5. Knowledge of Databricks ETL, orchestration, notebook development, and job scheduling.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, document, analyze, and implement requirements.
7. Develop and maintain data pipelines, harvesting data from systems of record to create data products.
8. Create and optimize relational database schemas, tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
9. Perform data migration, transformation, and integration tasks.
10. Develop and maintain ETL processes from various sources.
11. Assist other development groups with integrations.
12. Familiarity with version control systems like GIT and Agile methodologies.
13. Interact with vendors for support and consultancy.
14. Communicate with management regarding project status, dependencies, and timelines.
15. Manage release processes in line with ITIL Change Management.
16. Describe functionality changes and provide follow-up support.
17. Support QA testing and User Acceptance Testing.
18. Utilize reporting tools to create and update dashboards and reports.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates:
Education, Experience & Skills:
* 5-7 years’ experience in Data Warehouse/BI development and data modeling.
* 3-5 years’ experience with Databricks on AWS.
* 3-5 years’ experience with Reporting and Visualization tools.
Development Skills:
* Experience with BI, data analysis, data modeling, and visualization on Cloud, on-premises, or hybrid setups.
* Experience with Databricks platform.
* Proficiency in Python, SQL, relational databases (Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server), and procedural languages (PL/pgSQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).
* Experience with version control systems.
* Web services integration (REST/SOAP/JSON).
* Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI is a plus.
* Exposure to SQL Server Integration Services.
General Skills:
* Excellent communication skills for presenting diagnostic, troubleshooting, and conclusions to technical and business stakeholders.
* Strong listening and analytical skills.
* Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Ability to work independently and professionally.
Additional Skills:
* Experience with Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
* Experience with XML and XBRL formats.
* Financial industry experience, especially Hedge Funds or Financial systems.
