About the Role
The Senior Scientist will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, microbiologists, technicians, administrative and support staff.
The Senior Scientist will run the largest laboratory in the Local authority sector, analysing roughly 30,000 samples annually using a wide range of sophisticated analytical instrumentation.
The Senior Scientist will manage a range of services including, but not limited to, the analysis of drinking waters, bathing waters, reservoirs, rivers and streams to ensure compliance with national and EU standards.
The Senior Scientist will maintain and manage the ISO 175025 accreditation by the Irish National Accreditation Board.
Qualifications
Experience in water, sewage or effluent treatment technologies.
Experience in the operation of pollution control systems.
Experience in industrial process technologies.
Experience scheduling workloads in a busy laboratory.
Experience dealing with other agencies such as Uisce Eireann and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Expertise in development and validation of new test methods to ISO 17025 standard.
Expertise in effective resolution of analytical problems and preparation of reports.
Experience in analytical procedures, their development, validation, operation and reporting to LIMS.
