12 Months, Fixed Term Full-Time Post Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an exciting project investigating the extrinsic factors that contribute to the vulnerability of the brainstem to diffuse midline glioma (DMG) for up to 2 years.
The postdoc will investigate how early-life microbiome perturbations shape brainstem microglial development during the neonatal period and identifying microbiota-dependent signals during critical postnatal windows relevant to diffuse midline glioma (DMG) vulnerability.
Applicants must hold a Ph D in neuroscience, immunology, cancer biology, bioengineering, or a closely related discipline.
Essential experience includes mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as RNA extraction and quantitative PCR, as well as demonstrated competence in imaging-based assays (e.g.
immunocytochemistry and confocal microscopy).
Candidates should have prior experience with in vivo mouse work, including tissue dissection, sectioning, and immunohistochemistry, and be comfortable working across in vitro and in vivo systems.
Experience with advanced culture platforms-such as human i PSC-derived models, 3 D glioma cultures, or microfluidic systems-is highly desirable, as is familiarity with flow cytometry-based analyses and transcriptomic datasets (bulk RNA sequencing, with exposure to single-cell approaches an advantage).
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong experimental rigour, intellectual independence, and the capacity to integrate multi-modal datasets within a collaborative research environment.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's.
This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher.
Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association Project Title: Unravelling extrinsic developmental vulnerabilities of diffuse midline glioma Post Duration: 12 Months, Full-Time Post Salary: €46,805 - €53,391 p.a.
(IUA PD1 Salary Scale) For an information package including further details of the post see Informal enquiries can be made in confidence to Dr.
Lily Keane; Email: Applications must be submitted online via the University College Cork vacancy portal Queries relating to the online application process should be referred to quoting the job-title and project name.
