Job Title: Workplace Health and Safety Professional
The role of the successful candidate is to ensure compliance with legal requirements, foster environmental health and safety practices, conduct risk assessments, develop health and safety initiatives across all sites, and maintain up-to-date inductions. Key responsibilities include overseeing health and safety across all departments, preparing health and safety strategies, conducting accident investigations, developing effective programs for maintaining a "zero incident" safety culture, and reporting to regulatory bodies as required.
Requirements:
* Degree in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety
* 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Chartered member or progressing to be with IOSH is desirable but not essential
* IPPC license experienced
* Manual handling instructors qualification
* Noise measurement and assessment qualification and experience
* Waste Management and recycling experience
* Emergency response system implementation and management experience
* First Aid Qualification
Responsibilities:
* Manage workplace health and safety across all departments
* Develop and implement health and safety strategies and internal policies in line with organizational objectives
* Conduct and ensure closure of safety audits
* Investigate accidents, including drawing up reports/risk assessments for management recommending corrective actions
* Develop and implement effective programs for maintaining a "zero incident" safety culture
* Maintain knowledge on all matters regarding Health and Safety legislation and guidance and keep stakeholders informed
* Foster high standards of health and safety compliance across all sites
* Ensure vaccination programs are up to date across all locations
* Responsible for reporting to and dealing with regulatory bodies as required
* Maintain employee welfare at a high level
* Organize and document medical treatment for occupational injuries and illnesses
* Oversee ongoing in-house training, including manual handling and first aid
* Conduct Health and Safety Inductions for new hires across all sites
* Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste procedures
