In close partnership with FMC's Global Accounting COE in Ireland, this role will support the monthly US GAAP closing process for FMC Corporation's EMEA entities, with a focus on non-standard processes and knowledge-centric accounting entries and judgement areas, revenue recognition, provisions etc.Ensure compliance with Regional SOX controls on a quarterly basis and support the issues with controls managed locally.Business partnering with various regional and global teams including the EMEA commercial, tax, legal and Finance teams.The role is also responsible for supporting the Regional Manager to drive process improvements across the region including standardization and documentation.System and Process ResponsibilityPartner with FMC's Accounting COE in Ireland, support US GAAP closing process, ensuring the reported numbers are complete and accurateComplete close activities for assigned countries, such as revenue recognition review, product returns reserves, bad debt reserve among othersReview of statutory financial statements based on local laws under local GAAP principles for assigned area of responsibilityEnsure local GAAP ledgers are maintained – ensuring a clear reconciliation is maintained between US and local ledger resultsSupport the statutory audit process for assigned area of responsibilitySupport the review of statutory financial statementsLead tax audits, as needed, closely collaborating with various SSC/COE centers in line with corporate guidelinesMaintain relationships with all relevant 3rd party service providers and drive efficiency in services providedParticipate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organization, achieving identified goalsLead Internal audits and coordinate with relevant teams to provide documentation requested, ensuring documentation meets required standardReview of balance sheet reconciliations in the EMEA region, ensuring they comply with internal controls with a focus on backup and ageing of reconciling itemsImplement recommendations following external and internal auditsSupport preparation of certain journals, business partnering with FP&A and relevant teamsSupport the EMEA balance sheet hedge accounting process, including forecasting exposures and review of resultsPromptly respond to information requests from internal and external stakeholdersComply with Global Accounting COE and business unit service delivery guidelinesResearch and determine the appropriate accounting entries for judgmental and one-off events, such as organizational restructuring, and drive the process of achieving stakeholder alignmentAssist with the creation and delivery of training programs and content (as needed)Candidate CharacteristicsOrganised with a clear approach to prioritisationAbility to deliver in an ambiguous environmentSelf-starter with excellent level of accountabilityExcellent communicator, demonstrating effective business partneringAbility to engage and manage multiple stakeholders to ensure a resolution is foundFunctional/technical competences (incl. education):Professional recognized accountancy qualificationExperience with US GAAP, SOXExperience in preparation of statutory accountsMS-Office (advanced user of Excel), SAP experiencePersonal competences:8+ years of relevant experienceExperience working within matrix organisations
