Communications Manager (part-time - maternity cover)
Age & Opportunity is seeking an energetic and experienced Communications Manager for a 12-month maternity leave cover.
Position: Part-time, 15 hours per week (based on a 37.5-hour week), with Tuesday mornings essential.
Location: Remote work with a minimum of two days per month in the office.
Contract: 12-month specific purpose contract starting August/September 2025.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and manage the organisation’s communications and digital strategies.
* Collaborate with colleagues to maximize PR and communication opportunities, prepare annual communication plans, and provide training.
* Manage the communications budget and external agencies, negotiate terms and contracts.
* Track communication effectiveness, provide campaign analysis and reports to senior management.
* Seek opportunities to communicate the organisation’s vision, brand, and services to diverse audiences.
* Plan and execute press campaigns, build relationships with journalists, and manage media coverage.
* Manage relationships with spokespeople and develop case studies illustrating the organisation's impact.
* Organise events and campaigns.
* Oversee the production and distribution of all communication materials, ensuring brand consistency.
* Proactively place stories about the organisation in the media.
* Act as a brand champion and website content owner, ensuring high-quality and on-message content.
* Develop marketing materials and work with internal teams to target specific audiences.
* Supervise the communications coordinator.
* Participate in strategic planning and review of communication activities.
* Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and quality standards.
* Follow organisational policies and work within the organisation’s values.
* Participate in supervision, management meetings, and contribute to policy development.
* Maintain flexibility in working hours and respond to organisational changes.
* Engage in training and performance management programs.
* Represent the organisation at committees and events.
* Operate within budgets, seek expenditure approval, and ensure proper expense coding.
* Provide regular reports, including weekly updates to the CEO.
* Perform any other duties as required.
